Instruction to Support Learning

In this instructional module example, the level of training relates to specialized equipment used to support certain processes in a manufacturing environment.  The current instructional design for this level of training includes two separate, but related courses:  1) Machine Operations and, 2) Machine Application.  Both courses (modules) include classroom presentations, course workbooks, testing, and one practical evaluation and demonstration that guide the trainer and trainee to meet certain performance criteria while on the production floor.  There is only one performance based evaluation that captures the skills and knowledge taught in the Operations and Application courses.

Due to the complexity of these two courses, the Operations Course for a specific piece of equipment is given only.  The Operations Course provides classroom and on-the-floor instruction for part identification, function, and description for a specific piece of equipment. It also provides instruction and demonstration by an employee to perform start-up, trouble-shooting, shut-down, and operator maintenance procedures.   Upon successful completion of the Operations Course, an employee would move to the Application Course.  The Application Course is not provided.

Also, the example provides all phases of the ADDIE model for this particular course.
